What is TTouch? The Magic Behind it😻

The foundation of our approach to working with animals is deeply rooted in empathy. While traditional methods often focus on "training" specific behaviors, TTouch emphasizes the importance of creating an environment conducive to genuine learning. Although training is essential for establishing safety and basic rules, ensuring that animals feel secure in their bodies and in their interactions with us is crucial for long-term, meaningful learning.

Traditional training methods often rely on the trainer's high level of skill and precise timing. We’ve all witnessed skilled professionals interacting with animals in ways that seem effortless, yet replicating the same results can be challenging for others. This raises the question: What is the animal truly learning? Genuine learning occurs when the animal feels safe enough to absorb information without hindrance. While a skilled trainer can effectively leverage instincts and timing, this doesn’t guarantee that the animal understands or internalizes the instructions.

When observing someone working with an animal, it’s enlightening to consider what you, as the animal, would learn. Try muting a video and focusing on the nonverbal cues and reactions. The Tellington TTouch method shifts the focus from training specific behaviors to empowering animals to become better learners. By enhancing the animal’s sense of safety, confidence, and well-being—physically, mentally, and emotionally—we pave the way for lasting success.

Our philosophy is not merely to view animals as subjects for training but to encourage a holistic approach that acknowledges their ability to learn, adapt, and thrive when provided with a supportive environment. By prioritizing the emotional and physical well-being of animals, we believe in building a foundation that fosters not just obedience but also genuine understanding and connection between humans and animals.

What is TTouch?

TTouch® was developed by internationally renowned animal expert Dr. Linda Tellington-Jones. This system, rooted in cooperation and respect, offers a positive approach to training that can improve an animal’s performance and health, while also providing solutions to common behavioral and physical issues. Through deeper understanding and more effective communication, TTouch® also helps build stronger bonds between humans and animals.

TTouch® promotes a positive, non-forceful, and gentle approach, and has now evolved into a globally recognized method for helping animals.

TTouch is an incredibly effective way to build trust. Often, pets panic or act out due to a lack of confidence. If you’re willing to learn and try, your relationship with your pet can become even more wonderful, and issues like anxiety or so-called behavioral problems may gradually improve.
